Change the code: dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline

Posted: April 15, 2014 in History

In an effort to engage the Harlem community in the public hearings on the 2014 New York City School Discipline Code, there will be a meeting at First Corinthians Baptist Church (1912 Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd.) in Harlem on Thursday, April 24 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The second floor will be used as a story collection booth. There will be a camera set up to capture student, parent and community testimonies about the discipline code, suspensions and solutions. This event will be co-moderated by Youth MC and Tanya Coke. The panelists will respond to pre-selected questions regarding their particular experiences and expertise.

This is a great way to get parents and students to participate in the positive changes that will take place in their community. Awesome!
